Andrew Lansley MP, Conservative Shadow Secretary of State for Health has responded to the review of Burnley's Urgent Care Centre by reiterating his support for a return of Burnley's A&E department.
In his submission, Andrew Lansley again confirmed his view that there was "no reason why accident and emergency status should not be restored to the emergency service at Burnley General Hospital."
Richard Ali , Prospective Conservative MP for Burnley said:
"It must be absolutely clear by now to everyone that only Conservatives have the best interests of all the people of Burnley at heart. Burnley's Conservatives have worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that the removal of the A&E from Burnley is now a national issue. I can only hope this will not become yet another Labour smokescreen and Burnley isn't again let down by Labour."
Andrew Stephenson, Prospective Conservative MP for Pendle said:
"Andrew Lansley's intervention proves that the Conservatives are committed to improving the NHS in East Lancashire, unlike the current Labour Health Secretary who is happy with the current situation. The people of Pendle want things to change, not more excuses from Labour who failed to save our A&E and are failing to champion it's re-opening."
