Kitty Watch

This section of the site is dedicated to Burnley's new MP, Kitty Ussher.

Whilst we genuinely congratulate her on her victory in 2005, we intend to monitor her activities. She gets paid an awful lot of money to be our MP, and she made some fine promises in her election campaign. So let's keep her accountable. These pages are not a personal attack and must not be seen as such.

So Who is Kitty Ussher?

  • Kitty's roots are deep down south. She was born in Aylesbury and attended Oxford University. She was a councillor down in the London borough of Lambeth (Burnley Labour's site fails to specify exactly where she was a 'local' councillor).
  • She was the chief economist for the failed 'Britain in Europe' organisation
  • She has worked as a 'special adviser' to Trade and Industry Secretary, Patricia Hewitt (Click here for further details)
  • Aided by an all-female shortlist, she was handed the safe Labour seat of Burnley, which she easily won in May 2005, but with a reduced majority.
