 | New Surveys |
 |
Two new surveys are available for members' paticipation:
The Manchester Business School and the Aarhus School of Business are currently collaborating with the Conservative Party in conducting an investigation into how the Party builds and maintains relationships with, for example, voters, the media and other parties.
Your opinion is important for this academic survey. In order to participate, please click on the link below. A new window will open and you will be guided through the short questionnaire which will take about 7 to 10 minutes to complete. We will ensure complete confidentiality for the Party. At all times your responses will be treated anonymously, and no information will be held by the Party or CCHQ.

 | Middle East |
 |
There is nothing commendable about what is currently going on in the Middle East. This blogger feels so sad for the good people of Lebanon who are caught up in a conflict not really their own. Nevertheless, while public opinion steadily turns against Israel, the Conservative Friends of Israel group would have us bear the following points in mind:
On 12th of July, two Israeli soldiers operating inside Israel were kidnapped by Hizbullah from Lebanon. This unprovoked terrorist attack was the most severe since Israel’s total withdrawal from Southern Lebanon in May 2000.
Hizbullah is part of the Lebanese Government, with two Cabinet Ministers, therefore Lebanon is held responsible for unprovoked Hizbullah actions.
Hizbullah is said to have up to 13,000 missiles and rockets, supplied by Iran and Syria
Hizbullah fired an Iranian made C-802 radar guided missile, with assistance by Iranian troops, at an Israeli warship on Friday (14th July).
Hizbullah is not a Lebanese ‘resistance’ movement but a military creation by Tehran – Iran’s terrorist proxy (est. 1982) for attacking Israel.
There have been up to 2,000 rockets fired indiscriminately against Israeli civilians in Northern Israeli towns and kibbutzim – as far south as Haifa (Israel’s third largest city) and Afula (45 km southeast of Haifa). A total of 35 Israelis have been killed (including IDF troops). Well over 400 people have been wounded.
Whilst Israel fatalities and wounded appear disproportionate to the numbers of tragic Lebanese casualties in this conflict, Israel is not fighting the Lebanese people but the Hizbullah terrorist element, led by Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah and his cohorts, who have made Lebanon a hostage and created Syrian-and Iranian-sponsored terrorist enclaves.
The Israeli Defence Forces have destroyed 40-50% of Hizbullah’s military capabilities
Hizbullah, together with Hamas, Syria and Iran, comprise the world's new and ominous Axis of Terror
Hizbullah rejects Israel’s right to exist. If Hizbullah or other groups believe that they can use the territory they control to attack Israel with impunity inside Israel’s recognised borders, there will never be peace. Israel is responding to the rejectionist ideology of Hizbullah and terrorism against Israeli civilians.
The Israeli response is targeted against Hizbullah strongholds, positions and infrastructure in Lebanon. Hizbullah brutally and cynically use Lebanese civilians as human shields and has a complete disregard for human life.
Israeli forces are NOT intentionally targeting Lebanese civilians. Before Israeli air force attack, flyers were dropped to warn residents not to remain in the proximity of Hizbullah positions
Israel, like any other government has the duty and right to protect and defend its citzens

 | Enoch Powell |

It's pleasing to read Mr Cave quoting the late Conservative MP Enoch Powell.
I am proud to belong to the party of Powell, Churchill, Thatcher, Baldwin, Disraeli and Peel.
