Letter of the Week 14/12/07

Welcome rail news

THANK goodness for the improvements in the rail service to Manchester. If things carry on as they are doing the people of Burnley and surrounding areas will be visiting Manchester to find a hospital with the capability of operating on them.

BNP Shame

A teacher at school in Barnoldswick recently informed me of BNP activists handing out leaflets to school children, even asking them to display such papers around their school.

How low will these people stoop?

Am I a Scrooge?

Although I am a Christian, and genuinely rejoice that 2000 years ago, God sent his Son to be born in human flesh that sinners such as I might be reconciled to my Maker, I am beginning to tire of Christmas. So this year, I put up no cards, no decorations and ate a putnoodle for my tea on Boxing Day. Call me a Scrooge if you so wish, but I'm all the merrier for it.
